Which Season Is Best for Trekking?

Trek can be done at any time of year, except for the monsoon months (May to September) and mid-winter (end of December, January, and February). Spring and autumn are popular trekking seasons because of the favorable weather conditions-warm days and clear skies. However, because Bhutan is known as the “Land of the Thunder Dragon,” storms and clouds can be expected even during peak spring and autumn tourist seasons.

The likelihood of snowfall blocking the pass or causing snow storms, which can halt all hiking for several days, is higher.

Where does Trek’s Start and Ends?


Annapurna Circuit Trek Starting Point


Besisahar is where the Annapurna Circuit begins. On the other hand, you can start your journey further up the path by boarding a public bus or a private jeep. Because they don’t want to hike on the dusty road or because they are short on time, people skip the first stage(s) of the trek.

1. Starting in Besisahar :

The once-traveled route between Besisahar and Bhulbhule has been transformed into a busy road. We advise against hiking on public roads. There is a 4-hour side-trek that circumvents the road, though. Take the side-trek definitely if you decide to start the trip in Besisahar. It’s gorgeous, but more difficult than planned, according to other hikers, who told us.

2. Starting in Bhulbhule:

From Besisahar to Bhulbhule, a public bus costs 200 NPR and travel time is just over an hour. A jeep is another option, although it costs more. What we did was this.

3. Starting in Nadi Bazar

For 300 NPR, a public bus will take you from Besisahar to Nadi Bazaar (sometimes called Ngadi Bazaar).

You must hire a jeep in Besisahar to get to these locations.


Annapurna Ending Point


1. Ending in Jomsom:

From Jomsom, you can fly, ride a bus, or a jeep to Pokhara.

2. Ending in Tatopani

Where should the trek begin?


You can essentially begin anywhere between Besisahar and Manang. You can only travel by bus as far as Ngadi; from there, you can either walk or use a jeep. Just after the Annapurna Sanctuary entry, seven kilometers from Besisahar, is where we began our journey.

We started out on foot from Besisahar but chose to take a bus after 2 kilometers of walking along a busy road because that section of the journey was the worst and busiest of the entire circuit.


Obtaining TIMS and ACAP Licenses


Make sure you have two permissions before you embark on your journey and depart from Kathmandu. To obtain these permits if you are traveling alone, go to the Nepal Tourism Board office in Pradarshani Marg, Kathmandu. In addition, if you plan your vacation via them, they can obtain these permits on your behalf.

As an alternative, you can obtain these permits from the ACAP Counter in Besishahar. The following is the fee schedule:

Trekking Level and Trek Planning


Because the trek’s intensity level is mid to moderate, you won’t need to conduct any strenuous exercise in preparation.

However, it is advised that you do some mid exercise to wake yourself up and get ready to run. The Trek requires you to walk 5-6 hours every day, covering around 15-20 kilometers. Some days throughout the Trek will need you to walk for up to 7-8 hours to reach your hotel, so be prepared for the challenge. You can finish the Trek with one statement if you practice some simple cardio exercises.


Available Food


In Annapurna Circuit Trek, Most of the guest homes provide a highly diversified menu. They offer a wide range of cuisines, from traditional to contemporary. When you arrive at your lodging, the meals offered will make your tiredness disappear. This Trek route includes bread items, tea, coffee (genuine ones), and practically all types of food.
