For those wanting a taste of the Khumbu then the ascent of Pike Peak is an ideal trek. Lying just to the south of the Everest Trail we pass through authentic Sherpa villages. From the Linkhu Khola we steadily climb through terraced fields, then rhododendron and magnolia forest. We now leave villages behind us and ascend further through hemlock firs to the cheese factory at Ngaur. The following day the summit of Pike Peak reveals panoramic views of the Rolwaling Himal, Everest and Makalu.

ITINERARY
Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu
Duration:
Height: 1300 m
Transfer to Hotel o/n Hotel
Day 02: Kathmandu
Duration: 4 hrs
Height: 1300 m Half day sightseeing around Kathmandu
Day 03: Kathmandu -Barahbishe - Lungurpa
Duration: 3 hrs drive and 4 hrs trek
Height: 1170 m
Early morning drive to Barahbishe 800m and commence trek to Lungurpa. The first part of the trek about 20 minutes is flat and reaches to Sunkoshi temple and cross the suspension bridge to cross the Sunkoshi River. Then walk about half an hour through the field and steep climb for 1 hour through the Jungle to the village of Keurini where Chhetri people living. After crossing the village of Keurini climb to Gurung village of Bungathali. Then 45 minutes flat walk to Gurung village of Lungurpa.
Day 04: Lungurpa-Birimthali
Duration: 6hrs
Height: 2500 m
A 4 hours gradual walks through the different village. Tungthali is settlement of Thami people. As soon as you arrive to Ghorthali, then steeper trail to Brimthali, this is the last village of the area.
Day 05: Brimthali - Kalinchowk (3790m) - Kurikharka

Height: 3460m
From Brimthali we walk Gradula climb and some places steep climb to Kalinchowk and then down hill to Kurikharka for Overnight camp. Kalinchowk (3,790m) the best viewpoint of the trek. The views of Rolwaling, Gauri Shankar, Jugal Himal and some peaks of Khumbu region, which are spectacular.
Day 06: Kurikharka – Gairikharka
Duration: 4hours
Height: 2300m
All the way down hill through the rhododendron and oak forest to Gairikharka.
Day 07: Gairikharka-Charikot-kathmandu
Duration: 2hours walk and 6hours drive.
Height: 1300 m
All the way down hill through the pine forest and Sherpa village to Charikot then derive back to Kathmandu. |
