Introduction

Hotel Garuda was founded in the year 1989 and, since then, we have had the pleasure of serving thousands of guests - from casual travelers to famous mountaineers. Most of our patrons have come to us through word of mouth recommendation and as returning guests.

The hotel is conveniently located in Thamel, the tourist district of Kathmandu. Our "GARUDA" spirit of hospitality is reflected in the smiling faces of our friendly staff, most of who have been with us since the inception of the hotel.

Rob Hall had booked us in at the Garuda Hotel, a friendly establishment in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu's tourist district. The Garuda has been popular with expeditions bound for the Himalayas, and its walls were covered with signed photographs of famous alpinists who'd slept there over the years.
